In the heart of Algeria’s El Oued Province,a 300MW photovoltaic power plant is turning one of the harshest environments on earth into a hub of clean energy. This landmark project plays a pivotal role in Algeria’s renewable energy strategy, aiming to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The Sahara is a testing ground like no other: daily temperatures exceed 50°C, sharp temperature swings occur between day and night, and sandstorms sweep across the desert more than 200 days each year. Under such conditions, every component must meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety.
In March 2024, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) signed the contract for the El Oued solar power project. Partnering with Longmax Technology, DELIXI Electric provided key low-voltage electrical solutions—most notably, the CDGNE-400 DC 1500V isolating switch—ensuring that the plant operates safely and efficiently despite the desert’s extremes.
